Preston Airwaves - Preston FM Youth Project

Welcome to airwaVes, the youth project run by the local community radio station, Preston FM.
In conjunction with v, the youth volunteering charity aimed at getting young people positively involved in the community, over the next three years Preston FM is offering volunteering opportunities for 240 young people, who will help to run the community station as well as to co-ordinate, commission and schedule a new strand of youth radio programmes. The opportunities are flexible in terms of time commitment, area of activity and subject matter, allowing them to be adapted to fit the interests, cares and passions of a diverse group of young people.

Young people are able to enter the project at any level, and are encouraged to progress as far as they can; taking on mentoring, training, governance, technical and management roles as their skill and confidence grows.

Testimonial

"The young people in our group are heavily influenced by urban music and the image/stereotypes that go with it. The project helped them develop their skills in a positive way and brought about a positive outcome."
(Aaron Cartwright - South Ribble Young People's Service)

The project also carries out a lot of outreach work for partner organizations, so if you are interested in getting your group involved but cannot come to us, don't worry... We can come to you!
